All (pack- which includes  tigers, wolves, bears, & webelos): As a mom of a cub, I was very pleased indeed to be handed a “pack 131 newsletter” which included all sorts of information! Thank you, John Daniel for providing this!

Cubs:

  • Tonight we worked on and earned the music beltloop!

Webelos:

  • Tonight we talked about how we can be good citizens, what are rights and duties are as Americans.
  • We are about to finish the requirements for the citizenship badge; however, please encourage your scout to pick 2 of the last requirements for this badge (citizenship), and work on it over the next couple of weeks.

Boy Scouts:

Deadline for sign up and payment for the Merit Badge Workshop is next Tuesday, 9/1/09. The workshop will be held 9/18-9/19 at Camp Tyler, cost is $25.

Scoutmaster review will be held next Tuesday for the following boys: Douglas Greenwell and Caleb Youngblood. Then the following week, board review (remember to be in full dress, including sash).

Cubs/Webelos:

  • Tonight the topic was “What makes America Special?” The Webelos worked on their citizenship badge, learned how to fold and display the flag, learned the history of the flag and the national anthem.
  • Cubs “Mom ‘n me” will be October 3-4.
  • Welcome Dillon Hooker and Hunter Thurston, new to cubs!

Boy Scouts

Campout this weekend!

  • The boys will be camping out on the church grounds (where we meet for scouts)starting at 6pm, this Friday, 8/21.  Please pick up your scout by 1pm on Saturday, 8/22.
  • We need 1 dad to volunteer for the camp out. Please let James Carpenter (james.carpenter@yahoo.com) know if you can help this weekend.
  • We have 3 “chefs”  (Andre, Caleb and Douglas) that will be shopping and cooking for the scouts on the camp out.  They will let the boys know how much the food cost and split it out later. Your scout will not need to bring anything food-wise unless they wanted to bring snacks.

Merit Badge Workshop is 9/18-9/19 at Camp Tyler, cost is $25. Your scout needs to RSVP next Tuesday!

A lot of Board of Reviews were conducted tonight.  Congratulations to all the scouts who were successful.
Court of Honor August 11th
The Court of Honor is next week, August 11th.  Everyone needs to come dressed in their full uniform. (Full Uniform Description:  Shirt should have epaulets on shoulders, East Texas Area Council patch with 131 under on left shoulder sleeve, and world crest patch sewn just above left pocket.  The neck tie  and slide is earned and not required and the belt and buckle is optional.  Although, a belt of some sort is required along with shirts tightly tucked. Books are also required.)

Food for Court of Honor
Families of Scouts please bring salty or sweet (chips and dips or cookies/cake) snacks and families of Cubs please bring drinks and ice.  A sign up link will follow this e-mail from James Carpenter.

Camp Out
The date for the camp out has been set for August 21-22.  We will camp locally.  Details to come.



Webloes:

Tonight
The Webloes started the citizenship badge tonight.  They need to read the section on citizenship in their books by next week.

Uniforms
Uniform inspections will begin next week.  Webloe Uniform Description:  Shirts, hats, neck tie, slide, belt and buckle.  (note:  The new Webloe buckles don’t seem to work with the old wolf blue belt.)  Shirts should have East Texas Area Council patch on left shoulder with 131 under.  The world crest patch should be sewn over the left front pocket.  All other badges are earned.  Shirts should be tucked in.


Bears:

Tonight
The Bears talked about faith and worship tonight.  Their homework assignment is to count the number of times they exercise their faith this week.  They discussed that faith is like a muscle that needs exercise to grow.

Popcorn
Some received their popcorn information in the mail this week.  Some did not.  Don’t worry if you didn’t receive it this week.  We won’t be selling popcorn until October.
